Judges list criteria

A1 LIST

For people who have previously been approved to award CCs in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.

A2 LIST

For people who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list, who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list, and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.

A3 List (Breed Specialists)

  1. Minimum of seven years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.
  2. To have judged two Breed Club Shows
  3. To have judged a minimum of 75 classes at Open or Limited Shows with an adequate geographical spread.
  4. To have judged a minimum of 300 dogs.
  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
  6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement
  7. To have attended a Conformation and Movement ‘Hands-on Assessment’ conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
  8. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
  9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)
  10. To have stewarded at 12 shows.

A3 List (Non-Breed Specialists)

  1. Minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in this breed)  and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.
  2. To have judged at 2 Breed Club Shows in this breed.
  3. To have judged a minimum of 75 classes at Open or Limited Shows with an adequate geographical spread.
  4. To have judged a minimum of 300 dogs in this breed.
  5. To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
  6. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
  7. To have bred and /or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save for exceptional circumstances)

B List (Breed Specialists)

  1. To have 7 years experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.
  2. To have judged 30 classes of this breed at Open or Limited Shows.
  3. To have judged a minimum of 100 dogs of this breed.
  4. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice.
  5. To have bred and/or owned at least one dog when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)

B List (Non-Breed Specialists)

  1. To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.
  2. To have judged a minimum of 30 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Limited Shows.
  3. To have judged at least 100 dogs of this breed.
  4. To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice.
  5. To have bred and/or owned at least one dog of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)

C List (Breed Specialists)

For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the South West Whippet Club. Listings would normally include people who have judged the breed at Limited or Open shows but do not yet qualify for the B Lists.

C List (Non-Breed Specialists)

For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the South West Whippet Club.
