Bitches Critique

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge bitches at their Championship

Show. It was a great honour for me & I was thrilled with my entry. It was unfortunate that it was the weekend of Storm Denis which understandably prevented some exhibitors from attending. Thank you to my efficient stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly, to my co-judge, Helen Rishworth, whom it was an absolute pleasure to judge with, to the committee for such a warm welcome & to the exhibitors for giving me the pleasure of judging your lovely dogs.

I was delighted with the quality of bitches throughout & in some classes I was really spoilt for choice & splitting hairs between my winners. I came across a few bitches well over sized

with heavy bone which made them look more like dogs losing their femininity & graceful curves. I was also surprised to find a few incorrect bites.

But on the whole the bitches were full of quality & all were well-presented & in great condition. It was a pleasure to judge them.

Very balanced throughout with pleasing topline & underline, strong loin & well-angulated quarters with good bend of stifle & low hocks. In profile she just flowed effortlessly round the ring, moving soundly with great reach & drive. When being stacked she has a tendency to lean back into herself but once relaxed she is a perfect picture, all curves, full of elegance & I just loved her classic type & quality.
