Many thanks to the Officers and Committee, for inviting me to judge at my first Breed club show and to all those who braved the awful weather and managed to attend on the day. It was a pleasure to go over so many quality Whippets. Thanks also to my steward John, who looked after me so well.
Special Award Yearling D/B 16(4)
1st Dillon & Bailey’s Stonefox Ice Pick Willy at Runforest 1 year old Brindle dog who just oozed quality, appealing head and eye with strong under jaw, lovely neck that flowed into well laid shoulders, with a nicely filled front. Great topline with a strong well arched loin, with a nice tuck up to match. Well-muscled thighs, with good rear angulation that gave him plenty of reach and drive around the ring, Moved true. This boy has the ring presence of a future Champion, so pleased to see him go on later in the day to be awarded his first CC.
2nd Webber’s Zoraden Fifty Shades Darker, 18m Black Bitch with the most beautiful shining coat. Lovely feminine head and eye, nice neck into well laid shoulders, great return of upper arm, nice front and deep chest. Just the right amount of curves. You do not appreciate the muscle tone of this girl until you put your hands on her; she has a strong back, loin, thigh and second thigh which gives her the combined look of grace and power as she moves around the ring. A very close decision.
3rd Robertson’s Moonlake Medium Blonde.
Special Award Open D/B 14(5)
1st Wilkinson’s Citycroft Starfall JW. A 2 year old Fawn Bitch, who I have admired from the side of the ring and she did not disappoint, nice front, with long neck into good shoulders, deep chest, nice topline and lovely curvy underline, strong loin into good rear angulation which made her just flow around the ring, holding her topline at all times which just gave her the edge today.
2nd Howgate & Hull’s Palmik Queen of Diamonds JW. 2 year old Brindle & White Parti Bitch. Different shape than my winner but holds just as much quality, good for size with the most attractive head and rose shaped ears, lovely shoulders and return of upper arm which gave her great reach when moving. Nice topline into a strong well-muscled rear. Moved true with good drive, pushed hard for 1st.
